TURNER PICTURES released in 1992 a very well done documentary WHEN THE LION ROARS, the history of MGM. six hours on a three VHS tape set. the following mosaic with forgotten memories from the early days of filmmaking is my inspiration for the weekend.

woaw! debbie Reynolds,janet Leigh,Gable,Turner…
but what are gary Cooper and marlene Dietrich doing here?!They spent all their career at Paramount;Cooper did only one picture for MGM: “Operator 13″(1934)
The same about claudette Colbert who was a star at Columbia.
Anyway,MGM produced one of the best musicals in technicolor ever made.
The technicolor at that time (1945-55) was gorgeous.
