classic 1

for probably fifteen years now I collect reference classic paintings wherever I can find them, so far at least over one thousand. most of them are not that well known and usually are not published in the common artbooks. they are my teachers when it comes to period architecture, older environment and nature, as well as painting details – different textures in particular. here is a small compilation of some of my favorite ‘teachers’.

Incredible. It is very important to “drink” from old masters. It is impossible, for me for example, as a colorist, don´t study Impressionism for example.
