THE HANGMAN was produced in 1964 by LES GOLDMAN and PAUL JULIAN. using the original poem of MAURICE OGDEN, the eight and a half minute film is basically an ‘animatic’, very interesting stylized paintings by julian with very limited animation.

The first picture recalls me some works of Alberto Breccia.
Very good of course..!!

I saw your entry on Paul Julian’s work. My husband’s family in 1937 purchased one of his paintings in Santa Barbara called The Boxing Match that I now see reveals the genius that went into his later animation -work I only recently discovered on the internet. My husband inherited this painting from his father almost twenty years ago and only in the last few years have we been able to research the artist and fill in the blanks. We’ve decided to sell the painting and hope someone who really appreciates Julian’s work will find it. Thanks for posting.
