WILHELM M.BUSCH illustrated in 1965 the novel MEMOIRS OF A MADMAN, written by one of the greatest western novelists GUSTAVE FLAUBERT ( 1821 – 1880 ). the book was published by heinrich ellermann verlag, hamburg. different from busch’s usual ballpoint-pen drawings, these illustrations are pen and ink.

Wow..such nice drawings! Reminds me a bit of Topolsky, but really all it’s own too.. I really appreciate posts like these, as well as your many great Simplicissimus posts. We just don’t get enough exposure to that stuff here in the US.

I’m constantly flabbergasted by Busch lines. Beautiful Gestures & Compositions too.
Keep’em coming, I cant have enough! Why isn’t there an art book of him?
Joseph Clement Coll also did awesome stuff with Ink & Pen.
